'Foyer and concierge-free, there is no one to greet us as we navigate from the lower-ground carpark up a grungy stairwell and a long a dark hall. Tuning in to the street sounds of Kolkata piped into the dimly lit corridor, I twig that these elements are intentional.

Still it is a marvellous surprise to enter the apartment, where we are flooded with lightness and retro-scandi gorgeousness. What a contrast...
