Change Overnight is a new 18-room hotel in Launceston. Every night a guest stays at Change allows them to give back to the world and they, in turn, are promised ‘a better night’s sleep’.
Due to launch mid-June 2019, the directors of Change, Tara Howell, Sam Haberle, Toby Wilkins and Marcel Anstie are calling on the help of the public to finalise the final two causes the hotel will support.
“Our business model has been deliberately designed to be a social enterprise where profits directly impact our world. Businesses can no longer exist to just make a profit, there is an inherent need for businesses to make a bigger impact” says Tara Howell.
Guests that book with Change have the choice of eight not-for-profit organisations to support. Of these eight, six are confirmed as; Tasmanian Land Conservancy, Good Shepherd Agricultural Mission, Victory School of Hope, Beyond Blue, Act for Kids and Freedom Centers.
With two organisations yet to be chosen, Change is calling on the public to cast their vote to confirm the final two causes. Voting closes Tuesday 11th of June 2019.
“We want each guest to feel like their choices change lives, both during their stay and after their stay. That’s why we’re calling out to the public to ensure that we are supporting organisations that are important to our guests and are causes that people can really get behind. The EOI is a chance for people to have their say and influence the impact Change has on the world”, adds Sam Haberle.
The causes selected will have a tangible contribution that can be made with every night’s stay. “Each night a guest stays, a contribution is made to one of our causes selected by the guest. So, if a guest chooses the Good Shepherd Agricultural Mission, we then fund 210 nutritious breakfasts for the kid in the orphanage. It’s a tangible change and we can track our impact” says Tara.
